- Summary:
-
"Pretext has been constructed by Caren Florance (Ampersand Duck) as a way of extending her PhD research. It will become an archive of creative book activity and thinking in Australia and (hopefully) New Zealand. It hopes to become a throbbing, pulsing database that talks back. It wants to find an audience among those who think about the topic of books as art, those who support such books by collecting, selling or displaying them, and especially anyone who makes books outside of the mainstream publishing system, whether they identity as book artists or not.
