- Miniature terrestrial globe of the world with a folding hand-coloured engraving of the peoples of the world in their native costumes with titles in a Germanized form of English. Australia is shown as New Holland and Tasmania is shown as V Diemans L (Van Diemans Land) and is drawn as an island. N South Wales is marked on the coast of New Holland. Navigation Island, Friendly Island and Sandwich Island are also shown.
- Title taken from engraved and hand-coloured illustration on box lid.
- Title should read: World with its inhabitants.
- Signed on globe "MCB". Globemaker identified by signature "MCB" on globe.
- 12 paper gores applied to plaster sphere.
- Cardboard box covered with marbled paper.
- Accompanied by a fold-out showing twenty-eight hand-coloured engravings printed as separate panels on a single sheet, folded concertina-style. Each panel is illustrated with a single male figure, who is dressed in traditional clothing representing a different nationality or ethnic group. The sheet is attached to the inside of the box.
- National Library of Australia holds a similar work with a slightly different title "The Earth and its inhabitants", with an estimated publication date of between 1830-1840. Also attributed to Carl Johann Sigmund Bauer (1780-1857), a German globe maker. Shelved at MAP GLOBE 10.
