In 1995 Sophie Ducker achieved 50 years of continued contribution to research and teaching at the University of Melbourne. She received an Order of Australia in 1997 and the 1996 ANZAAS Mueller Medal (6th woman). This medal was in recognition of her contributions to marine botany, researches into the history of botanical exploration and collecting in Australia and the Pacific.
