- Shows 12 classes of forest cover, arable lands, grassland, heath & moorlands, gardens and agriculturally unproductive lands, and urban and suburban land.
- "London School of Economics".
- Accompanied by: An outline description of the first twelve one-inch maps, by L. Dudley Stamp, and E.C. Willatts. 1934 (41 p. 25 cm.).
- Each sheet has individual title and number.
- Includes key showing land use categories.
- Sheets for England and Scotland numbered separately. Scottish sheets use the 1922-1943 Popular edition 1:63,360 map series of Scotland, with one modification to sheet lines reducing the 92 sheets to 91. Sheets for England and Wales use the Popular edition 1:63,360 map series of England and Wales, but with a number of modifications to sheetlines reducing the 145 sheets to 134 (sheet 1 was not issued, being covered by Scottish sheets 75 and 81). As with the regular topographic map series, Scottish sheets 86 and 89 are common with English sheets 3 and 5.
- Some sheets for Highland Scotland were never published, but the fair copies were deposited with the Royal Geographical Society.
- Sheets printed by various printers: Ordnance Survey; J. Bartholomew; Greycaine; Martin, Hood & Larkin; Waterlow; G.W. Bacon; Baynard Press for G.W. Bacon; E. Stanford; and W. & A.K. Johnston.
- Two overview mapsheets at 1:625,000 were also published in several versions: Land classification, Types of farming, and Land utilisation, along with 93 County Reports, and L. Dudley Stamp's book "The Land of Britain: its use and misuse" , London: Longmans Green, 1947; 2nd ed. 1950; 3rd ed. 1962.
