- Biography/History:

"Eric [Gifford] was known to have had a dream to start a company that would produce a high-quality product within the comfortable reach of the average wage earner, at the same time embracing the manufacturing principles of Henry Ford. Out of this dream, Eric successfully founded the STAMINA CLOTHING Company. The company utilised cloth from the Australian Woollen Mills. Many a former school boy will recount pulling the collectors cards out of the pocket of their new school shirt, while some may remember the books released called Men of Stamina. All of these publications were written by Eric and often designed by commercial artist Walter Jardine. The popularity of STAMINA CLOTHING allowed the company to grow exponentially, until it was able to list as a public company."-- National Archives of Australia website, viewed 11 August, 2016, http://discoveringanzacs.naa.gov.au/browse/groupstories/957
