"The wellbeing of people living in rural and regional areas of Australia is influenced by numerous factors, many of which are different to those experienced by people living in cities. Things like drought, floods, changing environmental health, new industries, changing land uses and migration of residents can all affect the wellbeing of rural and regional communities. Better understanding of wellbeing can support the development of strategies that improve wellbeing, resilience and adaptive capacity of people living in rural and regional Australia. The Regional Wellbeing Survey was established in 2013 to better understand the wellbeing of people and communities in rural and regional Australia, and how different social, economic and environmental changes influence wellbeing. The survey will be repeated in successive years to track how and why wellbeing changes. This report provides 'topline' results of the survey. It is intended to enable the many people and organisations with an interest in the survey to access emerging findings from the data, and will be followed by further in-depth analysis that adds to the initial findings presented here."--Page iii.
