- Inscriptions: "The Rose Series W.12 Type of Aboriginals met by surveyors 1914"--Printed below image; "Trans-Australian Railway"--Printed on reverse; "Type of Aboriginals met by surveyors 1914. These three young blacks are just in from their own country and are "wild." Their tribal marks can be seen on their chests; and they bear a head decoration. Two of them are carrying spears adjusted in the wommerah ready for the throwing. When thrown by the wommerah the spear travels at great speed and with uncanny accuracy. The spears are usually made of thin mallee shoots and are frequently barbed."--Printed on reverse.
