The 550 Squadron operated Lancaster bombers within the Royal Air Force's 1 Group Bomber Command between November 1943 and October 1945. It was based at North Killingholme, North Lincolnshire, England, from early 1944, and had many Australians, Canadians, and New Zealanders (as well as a few Czechs and Poles) amongst its crews.
