Nominal roll of officers, NCOs and men entitled to medal for New Zealand War 1845-47. 5. Government notice re service of Major J.W. Fairthlough. 6. Address from inhabitants of Hobart on departure of 96th Regiment to Launceston, 1848. 7. Correspondence, 1832-1953. Includes letters re attack by Maoris on Kororareka, Bay of Islands ; appointment of Fairtlough as Commandant at Launceston ; and the storming of Ruapekapeka Pa by 96th Regiment.
- Biography/History:

Formed in 1881 from the 63rd and 96th Regiments and two battalions of the 6th Royal Lancashire Militia. The 63rd Regiment was based in Australia, mainly Van Diemen's Land in 1829-33. The 96th Regiment was based in Australia in 1841-48 and seved in the Maori War of 1845-46.
