Journal of a voyage from London to Sydney on S.S. Austral, September-November 1882 and account of life in Australia, 1882-1884 (112 p.). Gives a detailed description of his journey to London and the voyage to Australia, referring to conditions on the ship, passengers (including Maori chiefs), food, seasickness, concerts and deck sports, storms, porpoises and sharks, landing at Cape Verde Islands, coaling at Simons Bay, and impressions of Melbourne. The account of his life in Australia is briefer summarizing Melbourne, describing the towns and ending with his marriage in August 1884.
