- Summary:
-
"The Mineral Systems Drilling Project (MSDP) was an ambitious collaborative drilling project undertaken in southern South Australia along the south margin of the Gawler Range Volcanic domain. The principal collaborators on the project included two exploration companies, Kingston Resources and Minotaur Exploration together with the Geological Survey of South Australia (GSSA, Department of State Development) in partnership with the Deep Exploration Technologies Cooperative Research Centre (DET CRC). The overall objectives of the MSDP included; 1.Increase the understanding the 3D and 4D geological setting of the southern Gawler region including stratigraphy, lithospheric architecture, geodynamic evolution and mineralisation events 2.Using a Mineral Systems approach (source, pathway and trap) test the mineral prospectivity of the area for various commodities within various deposit model types associated but not exclusively confined to the 1590Ma event in the greater Gawler craton 3. Accelerate research and development of the suite of DRT CRC technologies by using a large collaborative drilling project in remote greenfield type exploration environment as an integrated test platform" -- from Executive summary.
