- [1883?]
- 1 manuscript map : mounted on cotton ; 123 x 108 cm
- Notes:
-
- Plan of Kilfera Run, County of Manara, west of Ivanhoe, New South Wales, showing paddocks with names, swamps, fencing, parish boundaries, tracks, buildings, dams, water tanks, wells, yards and roads.
- Total area of run 830,620 acres. The run contains the following named blocks or paddocks in the County of Manara: Amoona, Bingarah, Bonton, Bonuna, Burlabah, Caroerinyah, Casey, Coolaminyah, Gerathula, Katabritoi, Kilfera, Lyons, Manara, Marli, Martomah, Matheson, Moornanyah, Mulca, Nangutyah, Natumberah, Quambie, Thooulminah, Thumulah, Umalee, Wawilly, Whitminbah, Wokobity, Yelty.
- Many of the intermittent swamps marked on the map (in blue) have properties and paddocks of the same name (Giles, I tank, Goorah, Mountain tank, J well, Mulga, Hard tank, P Well, Day & night, etc). Generally ‘horse paddocks’ are located around more permanent water or wells, to allow boundary riders to swap or spell horses, and as mustering points for lamb marking and checking stock. The cleared track running diagonally through the map was cut so that station hands could find their way and to allow for easier mustering. The southern part of Kilfera Run was open plains country running into the creek country, while the northern sections are very scrubby. The Travelling stock route to the eastern side follows the old coach tracks from Balranald, to the south, and Wilcannia, to the north, possibly following Aboriginal tracks to the creek and river country. The Travelling Stock Route to the west follows mostly higher ground around the creek country, towards Menindee.
- Includes notes and the original manufacturer’s stamp in the upper right hand corner.
