Dejong speaks about his separation from his birth mother and his subsequent adoption. His adoptive parents encouraged him to search for information on his family and he eventually traced his sisters who had been adopted by white families. Dejong also talks about his efforts to encourage the development of his son's Aboriginal identity and his work on the Aboriginal Educational Advisory Committee.
