Louise Wellesley is a beautiful and talented actress. In 1937 she studies drama at Cambridge University. She's spotted by a London theatrical agent who works for the Secret Intelligence Service. In 1939 she becomes a Frenchwoman on stage at the Folies Bergere. In Germany, cousins Max and Kurt Hartmann prepare for war. Max is a Panzer commander and Kurt's in the Gestapo. Both arrive in Paris in 1940. One cousin falls in love with Louise and the other wants her dead. With the Resistance, French police and a British double-agent on her tail, Louise's best friend is Edith Piaf.
