Anna Smith begins this interview by talking about her early dance training in Melbourne and her tertiary training at Rusden College. She then discusses her professional career as a teacher and performer with Canberra Dance Ensemble and then with TasDance under Jenny Kinder's direction. She talks in particular about the influence of Neil Adams and Nanette Hassall on her development while at TasDance. The interview continues with a discussion of the time Smith spent in Montreal teaching, performing and choreographing. She goes on to talk about certain of her works made in both Montreal and on her return to Melbourne, including Wavetrain, Equilibre and Fivefold. She discusses her involvement with two Australian Research Council funded projects, Unspoken Knowledges and Conceiving Connections, and talks in depth about her work Red Rain made as part of Unspoken Knowledges. She analyses the major influences on her career and speaks about her hopes for the future.
