Handwritten letter from Dame Enid Lyons addressed to Lieutenant Commander Adams, dated October 10th, 1962. The letter relates to the 25th anniversary party for HMAS Swan, which Dame Enid Lyons attended in 1962. Harold Adams was the Executive Officer of the vessel at the time.

Dame Enid Lyons AD GBE. Member for Darwin, Tasmania in Federal Parliament, 1943-1951; Vice President of the Executive Council, 1949-1951; member of the Australian Broadcasting Commission, 1951-1952; created a Dame Grand Cross of the Order of the British Empire in 1937; wife of J.A. Commodore Harold J.P. Adams AM, RAN (Rtd). Served for 41 years in the Royal Australian Navy, including active service in Korea, Vietnam and Cyprus, command of two fleet destroyers, HMAS Duchess and HMAS Hobart, and of the Navy's largest shore establishment, HMAS Cerberus. He held a number of senior postings in the Navy Office, including Director of Naval Operations and Director of Naval Communications. He was made a member of the Order of Australia in 1986 for service to the Royal Australian Navy.
