CRESWICK BRANCH, A.H.A.
The fortnightly meeting of the com
mittee was held at Jordan’s hotel, Al
lendale, on Saturday evening. Present
—Messrs W. Taylor, (vice-president, in
the chair), A. G. Wallace (es-president),
A. W.' Hunter, R. Johnson. F. Mounsey,
E. Steele, T. Beckerleg, W. Smith, S.
Toohey, J. Hurn, W. Grinsted, and L.

Correspondence. From Mr Praed,
secretary of the A.M.A., asking to be
furnished with particulars regarding
sickness, and _ mortality amongst the
"members during the past three years.—
The secretary to comply with the re
quest. . From Mrs ;E. Graham-Wilkins,
with application for death levy for her
late husband, Edward Graham-Wilkins.
—Received, and resolved that a lew of
Is per member be struck, and collected
next pay day. From Mr J. W. Preston,
secretary of the Clunes Hospital, ac
knowledging with thanks receipt of dona
tion (£3 15s) to the hospital,
Reports.—From Messrs J. Day J.
Ellis, and J. Cunningham, reporting no
improvement. From A. M'Cormack,
stating he is getting on -as well as can
be expected under the circumstances.
From Mr Joseph Miller, that he is in a
fair, way towards recovery, and asking
leave to go up country for a month for
the good of his health.—Permission
granted. From Mr’ A. B. Patterson,
Ballarat; -reporting that his leg is get
ting stronger' and better, and is making
fair progress towards recovery. The
vigilance committee reported on the
other cases on the funds. All reports,
written and oral, were received, and
deemed satisfactory.
General Business.—Mr A. W. Hunter,
member of t)he executive council, re
ported at length on the business trans
acted at the late meeting in Bendigo,
and was accorded a hearty vote of thanks
for the able manner in which he had re
presented the branch. The secretary
was instructed to obtain sufficient copies
of the prepared printed report of Dr G.
F. Napthine, of Stawell, on carbonic
acid poisoning, for distribution amongst
the members. The secretary was also
instructed to write to the stewards who
have hot attended the specified number
of meetings according to rule 17 in by
laws. A resolution was passed that the
secretary furnish a copy of the accident
pavs to each mine. It was resolved that
celebration of next anniversary sports
in Creswick bo made an order of the day
for next meeting. A vote of thanks to
the chairman closed the meeting.
