the district, attended at the Supreme Court
House, on Wednesday at twwte o clock, and
read the writ of election issued. by bls Ex-
collency tho Governor, authorising the elec
tion of g, rnember to serve during this pre
sent Uesrionfi in the Legislative Council of
New South Wales, in room of Ediyarflbnea
Brewster, Esq-, resigned. Having read thp
writ, the "returning dffifcer railed upon thfe
cpectatore' present to 'nominate a candidate.

Hotson Ebdep, Esq., as a fit and proper-
person to represent : the Tutcreats of the
electors in tho Logislative Council. Mr.
Edward Curr seoooded the nomination.
There bring no other candidates proposed.
Mr. Ebden was declared .duly elected, and
the business was concluded. Ebdon, at
the time, was engaged as a tpfeeUl juror in j
a oaao then going ou iu court, add of course
could not return hia thanks to tho electors
personally. Tho attendance was miserably
thin, there being only sumehalf-doaeo electors
