FUNERAL OF MR. W. F. SAMSON

The funeral of the late Mr. William
Frederick Samson, J.P., who died sud-
denly at his residence, Ellen-street, Fre-
mantle, on Monday morning, took place
yesterday afternoon. The esteem in
which the deceased gentleman was held
was shown by the large and representa-
tive attendance. Following the hearse
were about 120 members of the various
Masonic lodges of Perth and Fremantle,
and after them came a large number of
leading residents of Perth and Freman-
tle in vehicles. Among those present
were the Premier, (Sir John Forrest),
the President of the Legislative Council
(Sir George Shenton), the Colonial Sec-
retary (Mr. G. Randell, M.L.C.), Messrs.

The remains were interred in the
Jewish portion of the old Fremantle
Cemetery. The Rev. D. I. Freedman of-
ficiated at the grave, and the funeral
arrangements were conducted, by Mr.
Arthur E. Davies.
Out of respect for the memory of the
deceased the flags at the Fremantle
Town-hall and several leading establish-
ments were at half-mast yesterday. The
premises of the Sun Insurance Co., of
which the deceased was one of the direc-
tors, were closed throughout the day.
