No. 19. Somewhere in France, March 24th, 1917. Price 3-4 d.  

MY LAST LEAVE.  

had lot of things to do.  

When first lobbed at Waterloo.  

hath ?a change?a haircut too.  

Whilst home for ten days Blighty.  

I?d left behind that army stew.  

Those Shells?-that mud ?those Froggies Too  

And changed their ?Comment allez vousl?  

To ?How d?you do!? in Blighty.  

changed my muddy clothes for new  

Then had my friends?relations too.  

To visit ?roughly twenty-two.  

All born and bred in Blighty  

wired Fa who's making shells:  

?Come home'tout suite T? (he seldom spells.  

3sie<t day went to Auntie Nell?s,  

maiden aunt in Blighty.  

Don?t visit atnts when on your pat,  

don?t care it they?re thin or fat  

As sure as you step on the mat  

Bang goes that day in Blighty  

So when you get your leave from France.  

And get requests from all your aunts  

To go-for lunch just wire ?CANTS!?  

Your leave?s too short in Blighty.  

If you?re afraid you might offend,  

Then Charlie?s Aunt recommend  

She keeps you laughing to the end  

day well spent in Blighty.  

Your cash mafeesh ?your time just up.  

You go to bed and dream of Krupp  

And other joys of France?thumbs up  

That?s ten days leave in Blighty.

am at the C.C.S. at ??mumps ward.  

have only one mump ?it is in the neck.  

This morning they woke me at clock, for  

wash in some water that had. almost had the  

chill taken from it. After 'that went to sleep  

again.  

About breakfast time die Orderly handed me  

bowl of steaming liquid and shallow dish.  

drank the hot stuff and, as the Orderly re-passed,  

handed him the shallow dish, expecting him to  

put some porridge or bacon on it.  

He said ?You haven't used it 11  

said ?I?ve drank the tea  

He appeared worried. You?ve drank yer  

mouthwash,? he said, and hurried from the ward.
