RECHABITISM: CONSTITUTION, LAWS, OBJECTS, AND ADVANTAGES.*

{Concluded from page 205.)

2. District Laws. —The Districts, as we

have already remarked, are composed of Re-

presentatives of the Tents within its bounds.

In connexion with the District is the Burial

Fund, which is formed from the payment by

each brother of one shilling out of the

initiation money, and one-half of the over-

age money. For example, brother being

forty years old at the time of admission pays

205., one-half of which is overage money;

so that in addition to the one shilling already

named, the District would be entitled to ss.

out of the lOs. Overage commences at 36

oifars of age.

Burial Fund.— When brother dies it is

out of this fund the funeral gift is paid.

From what has been said you will perceive

that all the Tents in the District bear the

burthen occasioned by death. Some Dis-

tricts have permanent levy payable quar-

terly; others only lay levy as needed.

The same principle that regulates clearances

and the sick gift is applied to the funeral

fund thus, if brother removes to another

district, and of course joins tent in that

district, the district that he left is liable for

twelve months to all the contingencies to

which such brother is exposed, and if he

dies, the district into which he comes must

bury him, and afford to his family all the

help that may be required, and debit the dis-

trict from which he came with the amount.

From what has been advanced on the sub-

ject of removals and other advantages, it will

be perceived that when person becomes

member of the Order at large, the advan-

tages are not dependant upon the existence of

the particular Tent to which he is united,

but upon the existence of the whole Order;

in short, every brother has his guarantee for

the permanence of the Order in every other

Rechabite in the world.

Travelling Relief Fund. —Each District

is empowered to establish a., travelling fund,

out of which to relieve brethren who may be

compelled to travel in search of employment,

from which much good results to those who

are necessitated to leave their homes in search

of employment*.

111. The Objects

1. To make Provision for Seasons of

Sickness. —You will have perceived from

what has been already said that one of the

objects is to make provision for seasons of
