Scope and Content
Volume 1 of three volumes comprising the Journals of Alexander Weynton, 1841-1860. The restrospective journal of Alexander Weynton covers voyages on the Isabella Blythe, Castel Lachlan, Helen Stewart, Stag and the Windsor, 1841-1854. Weynton commenced writing this journal in 1851, basing it on his original journals including volume 2 for the period 1852-1854. It contains 71 watercolour sketches and eight issues of a manuscript ship newspaper "Windsor review", dated August-September 1852.
Alexander Weynton was an English seafarer who rose from secondmate to captain in the English merchant navy.
