The Ben Lexcen Sports  

Scholarship Fund should be  

$50,000 better off following  

the inaugural dinner in the  

UNSW Roundhouse on 24  

February.  

Over 720 people attended the  

dinner which has been described as  

the biggest and best function on  

campus for many years.  

While much of the money  

came from the $BO per head  

surcharge, diners parted with  

$11,500 for lucky envelopes and  

another $25,000 at an auction with  

difference.

The Academic Board has  

reaffirmed its opposition to  

UNSW being ‘networked’ to  

other tertiary institutions but  

could accept the University  

adopting sponsored univer-  

sity or college approach.  

It has accepted proposal, at its  

meeting on March, which could  

see UNSW expand into projected  

‘college relationship’ similar to its  

existing arrangement with the Uni-  

versity College, Australian Defence  

Force Academy.  

The Board had before it paper  

by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor  

Michael Birt, entitled Proposal  

for the Extension of the University  

of New South Wales.  

In his proposal, the Vice-  

Chancellor said the essential aca-  

demic and administrative relation-  

ships between UNSW and the Uni-  

versily College, ADFA, could be  

applied to projected relationship
