WOMEN’S MISSIONARY ASSOCIATION  

CONFERENCE.  

In St. Stephen’s Church, on Tuesday, 6th May.  

large gathering of members of the  

Women’s Missionary Association was held in  

St. Stephen’s Church on the afternoon of the  

day on which the General Assembly opened,  

this date was chosen in order to ensure the  

attendance of members from the country.  

Mrs. Goodlet presided, and on the platform  

with her were Mrs. Manson and Mrs. Lamont.  

The meeting was called Conference, and  

various members were asked to prepare  

papers, in order to promote discussion. The  

papers, however, were so well and fully writ-  

ten, and so interesting, that nobody wished to  

discuss or controvert any of them, and the  

feeling of the entire meeting was one of  

thankfulness for the work that is being done  

every department of the activities of the  

omen’s Missionary Association.  

he first hour had been allotted to the Girls’  

Auxiliary, who, after an opening hymn, and  

prayer by Mrs. Manson. were welcomed by  

the President of the W.M.A., Mrs. Goodlet.  

and introduced by their own president, Miss  

Macdonald. The speakers were Miss Thom-  

son, vice-president, who described “The Girls'  

Auxiliary, and its Forward Movement”; Miss  

Parron, the secretary, who took for her sub-  

ject “Scattered Members” Miss Henderson,  

who spoke about “Mission Study”; and Miss  

Dunlop, on “What We Hope to do.”  

Great satisfaction was expressed by the  

president and various members on the impres-  

sion made by these young ladies, who are the  

hope for the future years of the W.M.A., and  

Mrs. Scott West bore testimony to the excel-  

lent work done by members of the Girls’ Auxi-  

liary among the sick and poor in various con-  

gregations of the Church.  

After hymn had been sung, the Women’s  

Missionary Association subjects were taken  

up, the first being an address by Mrs. Good-  

let, upon “Our Present Foreign Outlook.”  

Papers by Mrs. Carter, of Bourke, upon “Our  

North-West Home Mission," and by “Cousin  

Charlotte” on the “Australian Inland" Mission”  

were then read.  

Other speakers were Mrs. Harper, upon  

“How to Conduct Branch Meeting”; Miss  

Violet Reid upon the work at St. Andrew’s  

Settlement/ and Mrs. Lamont upon the “Allo-  

cation of Funds.” Miss Holt made an appeal  

for another Missionary, to learn Telugu, and'  

be her companion, as all the other Sholinghur  

Missionaries speak Tamil. welcome was  

given to Mrs. Turnbull, who is going to Sho-  

linghur with her husband this year, and Mrs.  

Turnbull responded. Mrs. Manson also spoke,  

and it was moved and seconded that the papers  

read shoifld be printed and distributed to the
