Arrangement

Entr'acte Theatre provided a numerical and an alphabetical index for their records received by the Library in July 1990 and September 1993. The 1990 consignment of numbered files was arranged roughly in subject order, and the 1993 consignment in numerical order. The files have been arranged by the Library in numerical order according to the numerical index. Some of the files listed were not received by the Library.

The alphabetical listing of the files is also available in Box 1.

Administrative History

The Sydney contemporary mime theatrical group Entr'acte, formerly known as the Sydney Corporeal-Mime Theatre, was founded by Elizabeth Burke and Pierre Thibaudeau in Australia in 1979. Corporeal mime, a 20th century art-form, is one of the few dramatic arts that relies almost exclusively on movement.

Entr'acte has performed in most parts of Australia, as well as in England, France, Holland, Japan and Indonesia. In 1985 the company was invited to the London International Mime Festival to perform Refractions, a program inspired by the Bauhaus movement.

Entr'acte has offered classes and workshops both in Sydney and on tour.
