Provenance
These papers were originally included in MS 7425, the papers of A.W.G. (Alick William Green) Whittle. They were separated from that collection in September 1995. Three additions to MS 8856 were received in 1995, 2002 and 2006 and have been incorporated into the existing series. This finding aid is based on lists prepared by the donor.

Biographical Note
Nancy Noon was born in Gawler, South Australia, in 1929. She was educated at Lyndoch Public School, Oakbank Area School and St Peter's Collegiate Girls' School, Adelaide. From 1946 to 1977 she was a radio journalist and contributor to programs on the ABC and commercial radio stations and from 1959 to 1974 she was a women's editor and columnist. She was a tutor in freelance journalism at the South Australian College of Advanced Education and from 1976 to 1980 was executive officer of Nadjuri Publishers. She has served on numerous committees and organisations, including the Society of Women Writers, the National Book Council and the Mastectomy Association.

Series 9. South Australian Heritage Committee Papers, 1978-1986
A large collection relating to the administration of the Heritage Branch, and the evaluation of items for heritage listing under the provision of the Act. The period marks an important (and at times very controversial) phase of South Australia's heritage movement. As far as is known, this collection is the only one outside the Heritage Branch, Adelaide.
Nancy was a member of the Committee (appointed by the Governor in Executive Council) from 1981-1986.
