THE LOBBY, PALACE THEATRE, MELBOURNE

Mr. H. E. White, Architect

The approach to the grand staircase is made; in effect, by the domed ceiling in Luxfcr

fire-resisting glazing, for domes ever enhance the dignity of an interior, and with this at

one end of the lobby, and the handsome staircase at the other, this particular interior is

afforded its full share of this quality. The panelling of the walls and the light brackets

are all strictly in keeping with the prevailing style of decoration corresponding with the

rest of the theatre. This portion requires to be bright and alluring with plenty of that

festive quality with which we believe amusements are fraught.
