Scope and Content
The papers comprise one passport and its English translation. The translation was done later, possibly by a member of his family. The passport was issued at Esslingen on 23 August 1836 and was used by Eipper to travel from Esslingen to London on 9 September 1836, via Basle, Strasbourg, Karlsruhe, Frankfurt, Mains and Rotterdam.
Background
Missionary. Eipper was born in Esslingen, Wurttemberg in 1813. He came to Moreton Bay in 1838 to work with the Aboriginal Mission under J.D. Lang.
