Biographical / Historical
Served in the First World War and received the Military Cross and Bar, and was recommended for the Victoria Cross. Following his experiences in the First World War Macneil became a pacifist and Presbyterian minister. At the outbreak of the Second World War he enlisted as a Chaplain and was sent to Malaya, and was imprisoned at Changi after the fall of Singapore.
