EVERYONES

WITH WHICH IS INCORPORATED AUSTRALIAN VARIETY AND SHOW WORLD.

Vol. No. 191

SYDNEY, OCTOBER 31, 1923

Price Threepence

(R.tl.t'r'o at the General Peat Office, Sydn.y, (or traiteml.elon by Poet a. New.p.per

HOYT DE LUXE George St. ■ Sydney Leading Cinema House.

Everyones Own Announcement

THIS page is the shop window of ’‘Everyones"—the space most sought after by

the trade anxious to place their wares before exhibitors. And so, for one issue

we crave its use to make our most important announcement to date. “Every-

ones” has made rapid strides. It is proud of the fact that it is known from

farthest North Queensland to remotest New Zealand; but it is prouder still

that it has won the confidence of the great body of film exhibitors. The building up of

paper like “Everyones has been accomplished at no little expense. The bigger the paper

the higher the cost, and frequently we have sold for 3d. issues which cost us treble the money to

produce. We have given our advertising pages at the lowest possible rate consistent with

business efficiency. Nobody can sell space cheaper and give equal service. Others have

charged double, and given not half our service. The exhibitor has never been asked to pay

more than threepence for his single copy, or, by subscription, 13/* per year. The time has

now come, however, when, if we are to retain our independence, we must ask exhibitors to

stand solidly behind us. We propose, from December Ist next, to make the price of

“Everyones” sixpence per copy—the subscription rate £1 per year posted—a fraction over

Ud. per copy. Is it worth 4|d. per week to get the truth about films? Is it worth twenty

shillings per year to keep abreast of the ever-changing show world —to be able to say each

week “Here at least is paper that is honest, that will not be brow beaten by one organi-

sation or many organisations”?
