Registered at the General Post Office Sydney,

for transmission by post as Newspaper.

Sept. 30, 1926.

One Shilling per Annum.

IN BRIEF.

la even savage bosoms

There are longings, strivings, yearnings

For the good they comprehend not.

And their feeble hands and helpless

Groping blindly in the darkness,

Touch God’s right hand in that darkness,

And are lifted up and strengthened.

Reports to hand tell of fonvard move-

ment call to the far North West.

Although meaning big outlay, and much

hard w-ork, it is felt that new mission

place should be opened up on the mainland.

It will be painful break for the Sunday

Island people to leave the home of lifetime,

but it seems an imperative necessity if the

industrial work is to continue.

Much prayer is needed for the special

guidance and help in the undertaking, and

the co-operation of all praying friends is

earnestly sought.

Miss Lock is still in Sydney, but intends

(as far as she now is able to say) leaving for

Victoria on the 6th October.

The Missionary has put lot of solid effort

into latern and other meetings. Much has

been told about the West Australian work.

The Quarterly Prayer time will be held at

La Perouse on Saturday, October 16th, to

5.30 p.m., and to p.m.

Praying friends of all denominations are

cordially invited to join the Mission workers

in their quarterly session of prayer,

Mrs. Matthews has returned to Swan

Reach, and Miss Folland and her co-worker

are bent on bettering the moral and spiritual

life of these people.

Misses Hyde and Smith have had strenu-

ous time at Oodnadatta. The conscious

presence of the Risen Lord is an inspiration

to the faithful worker.

The S.A. Home now has eight child

inmates, and sickness during the month has

maun Li- iiome duties anything but an easy

task.

Sickness and death has invaded the

Oodnadatta Home—a little one having

passed away. This meant enlarged service—

the lady missionary being mother, nurse,

undertaker, etc., all combined.

An interesting letter from our South Aust-

ralian President, Rev. Mr. Jennison, tells of

visit to West Australia.

With much regret he tells of his inability

to get into touch with the members of the

W. A. Council.

Still he had the opportunity to discuss

with interested persons matters connected

with future extension work in West Aus-

tralia.

As one of vast experience in the work

amongst the Australian Aborigines certain

suggestions are made re the opening up of

further work on the mainland. These will

be sent along to West Australia for oonakL-

ration.
