the Dark people of Australia

HE MADE OF ONE EVERY NATION OF MEN FOR TO DWELL ON ALL THE FACE OF THE EARTH

OUR FIELD AUSTRALIA ESTAB 1891

No. 228

Registered as Newscaper fo

July 31, 1920

One Shilling per Annum.

In Brief.

THE HOMELAND.

Life changes all our thoughts of heaven

At first we think of streets of gold.

Of gates of pearl, and dazzling light,

Of shining wings and robes of white,*

And things all strange to mortal

But in the afterwards of years

It is more familiar place—

home unhurt by sighs or tears.

Where waiteth many well-known face.

With passing months it comes more near,

It grows more real day by day.

Not strange, or cold, but very dear

The glad homeland, not far away,

Where none are sick, or poor, or long;

The place where we shall find our own.

And as we think of all we knew,

Who there have met to part no more,

Our longing hearts desire home too,

With all the strife and longing o’er.

ROBERT BROWNING.

Mr. L. Bailton, missionary and Secretary for

year* in the A.A. Mission, has entered the

“ Homeland.”

More will be said of our brother, and his ser-

vice for “ Christ and the Aborigines ” in our

next issue.

The new laundry at Bomaderry is an ac-

complished fact One sister writes—“ The wash-

ing was done in the new washhouse to-day quite

treat to have it.”

This ia an answer to prayer, for this need has

been laid before the Lord for many days.

Mr. Lau, new worker, is making Bomaderry

his headquarters for little while, giving an

occasional term to necessary things there, and,

between times, visiting the native people on the

South Coast

The friends of the Matron of Bomaderry Home

(Miss Fowler'' will regret to hear of the sudden

home call of her father, at ripe age.

Her mother being also very ill, an urgent

telegram was sent, hut unfortunately her father

issed away before she was able to reach Poincare.

The latest report says that Mrs Fowler is

slowly improving in health as also Miss Fowler’s

sister, who was quite run down from overstrain.

Miss Belshaw volunteered to help at the Ho ne

till Mis> Fowler’s return. She and Sister Finlay

son need vour earnest prayers, for the inmates

number 42 children.

We regret to say that Mrs. Edwards is not able

to continue in the work of the A.A.M., solely for

heath reasons. She withdrew at the end of the

probation term—six months.

Mrs Edwards has won our esteem bv her de-

voted Christian life and, with he; we feel very

much the fact that she is unable to continue, but

we trust to still have fellowship iu prayer for the

work.

Mr. and Mrs. Preston 'have been accepted as

workers in the A. Hod grant them blessed

term of service.

Mr. Preston is to make tour of the Northern

Fivers, visiting old stations, and >. oening up new

ones, Mrs. Preston, in the meantime, staying at

La Perouse, assisting Miss Baker.
