Describes his voyage to Australia on board an Orient Line ship, his arrival in Sydney during the 1890 maritime strike, his trip to Bundaberg via Brisbane on board non-union steamers, his work at the Fairymead Sugar Mill with Kanaka labour, his journey to and work in the goldfields in the Charters Towers area and his subsequent return to Brisbane and Sydney.
