Tom has held the position of  

Piemier Referee” for some con-  

siderable time, and is well-known  

not only to the Sydney Leagueite,  

but also to the Newcastle and  

Queensland public. Since the in-  

ception of Rugby League, Tom has  

always held prominent position,  

and is at all times keen debater’  

In 1908 he figured as Vice-Presi-  

dent, v. ommittee-man and member  

of the Examination Board; these  

positions he held till 1913, when  

he was elected to the position of  

President, and in 1916 he was re-  

turned as Patron, which position  

he retains to-day. One of the  

most prominent figures in the  

League, his presence on the held is  

draw card in itself, as he is held  

in the highest esteem by both  

players and public alike. has  

been member of the Examination  

Board since 1908. His opinion on  

the laws of the game is at all  

times sought and respected, and  

he is ever ready to assist the jun-  

ior with his knowledge. Many  

changes have been made in the  

personnel of the League game, out  

still Mac. retains his position as  

the leading football Referee.  

 

J. Farquhar (President) is re-  

cognised as one of the pioneers  

of the Eastern Suburbs Junior  

Referees’ Association —that As-  

sociation which has been instru-  

mehtal in placing the Eastern  

Suburbs in the proud position of  

to-day, i.e., League premiers.
