Fix this textSwarthmoor Hall in 1652 and converted many
Fix this textfollowers in the district, including Margaret Fell,
Fix this textthe wife of Judge Fell, who lived at the Hall. The
Fix this texthouse was a refuge for the much persecuted
Fix this textQuakers, and Margaret Fell became one of the
Fix this textmost prominent personalities in the movement.
Fix this textAfter the death of her husband in 1658 she was
Fix this textimprisoned; later, in 1669, she married George
Fix this textFox and they devoted their lives to the Quaker
Fix this textmovement. Meetings for worship were held in
