JOURNAL OF THE NEW SOUTH WALES TEACHERS FEDERATION

Vol. 66 No.l

January 28, 1985

Price $l.OO

Registe-ed by Australia Post Publication Number N8G1213

TOTAL

OPPOSITION

to

New Super Scheme

The 1984 Annual Conference has come out in total

opposition to the new Superannuation scheme. The new

scheme is due to be introduced on July 1, 1985. The

conference noted that the Premier has agreed to refer to

Cabinet union submissions in opposition to that scheme and

the Federation has called on Cabinet and Caucus to reverse

their previous decision see John Hennessy’s report page

and Annual Conference resolution centrespread.

Plan Demanded

For Extension

Of Release Time

Federation’s Annual Conference has called on the state

government to honour its promise of December 1983

and demanded that plan for the extension of release

time be developed for all Infants/Primary teachers by 1987.

The conference also called for timetable for realistic and

responsible restructuring of Inf ants/Primary promotions to

be drawn up immediately. If no response to these demands

has been received by the beginning of school year, federation

is to call statewide conference of Infants/Primary teachers

in March so that an action campaign can be discussed

see staffing resolution centrespread.

TAFE:

PALTRY

BUDGET

ALLOCATION

Annual Conference has condemned the paltry allocation

to TAPE in the NSW State Budget. The conference

accused the government of once again failing to honour

its commitment to the introduction of 18:12 teaching in all

TAFE schools. The conference called upon the government

to introduce equal teaching hours for all TAFE teachers from

the beginning of Semester in 1985.

Delegates at the 1984 Annual Conference of the NSWTF seek the call during the staffing debate. See

Secondary Staffing Crisis pages 3,4, 5, and the Staffing Resolution in Centrespread lift-out.
