Members Call For Focus  

on Staffing Formula  

Teachers attending mass meetings through-  

out the state on June 11, 12 and 13 called for  

concerted publicity campaign to ensure that  

the community and all teachers are fully  

informed about the real issues behind the  

dispute arising from the introduction of the  

Government’s new Staffing Formula. The mass  

meetings called for an increased focus on the  

Secondary Staffing Formula and clearly  

indicated their preparedness to struggle for  

formula that will guarantee staffing and  

curriculum provision for all students in period  

of falling enrolments.  

Minister Foreshadows More  

School Closures  

The schools are:  

The Minister for Educa-  

tion Mr Cavalier, has fore-  

shadowed the possibility  

large number of schools  

closing and/or being amal-  

gamated. This was fore-  

shadowed at deputation  

with the Minister for June  

24, 1985. The meeting was  

arranged following con-  

cerns about the possible  

closures involving Mos-  

man High School, Cre-  

morne Girls High School,  

Ryde and North Ryde  

High Schools.  

While assuring the Fed-  

eration that decision  

would be made very soon  

on the meeting, he also  

indicated that six inner  

western schools could be  

subject to decision on  

closure amalgamations at  

the same time as the other  

four, definitely by the end  

of this term, and possibly  

much earlier.

High, Glebe High, New-  

town High, Petersham  

Girls High, Mosman High,  

Cremorne Girls High,  

Ryde High, North Ryde  

High.
