Vol. lII. — No. 4.

SYDNEY.

May 1, 1918.

TRICKY DICK.

He’s just creamy-coloured pony, whom we all love very

much for his prettiness and cunning little ways. I’m sure

you would like to hear some of the funny and clever things

have seen him do. When was ten years old he was

two, but think some ponies at that age are much more

cunning than children.

My father bought him from an old Welshman for his

three daughters, and he used to take us to school and to

our railway station in sulky. He was well trained and

knew number of tricks when father bought him, but he

grew even wiser after he came to “ Rosebank,” our orchard

liome, where we gave him lovely stable. He stood knee-

deep in clean, yellow straw at night, and fed and frolicked

in large paddock most of the day.
