Fix this textIt was the night the dear Christ-child came to Bethlehem.
Fix this textIn a country far away from Him, an old, old woman named
Fix this textBabouscka sat in her snug little house by her warm fire.
Fix this textThe wind was drifting the snow outside and howling down
Fix this textthe chimney, but it only made Babouscka's fire burn more
Fix this textbrightly.
Fix this text1 ‘ How glad I am that I may stay indoors !'' said
Fix this textBabouscka, holding her hands out to the bright blaze.
Fix this textSuddenly she heard a loud rap at her door. She opened
Fix this textit, and her candle shone on three old men standing outside
Fix this textin the snow. Their beards were as white as the snow,
Fix this textand so long that they almost reached the ground.
Fix this textTheir eyes shone kindly in the light of Babouska’s
Fix this textcandle, and their arms were full of precious things—boxes
Fix this textof beautiful jewels, sweet-smelling oils and valuable oint-

Fix this text“We have travelled far, Babouscka,” they said, “and
