Fix this textCocker Spaniels and Mr. P. A. Ward for all

Fix this textNEXT MEETING
Fix this textThe next meeting of the Club will be held
Fix this texton Monday, 14th July, at 8 p.m., in Room 92,
Fix this textV.R.I. Building. The meeting will be a point
Fix this textjudging evening and the breed to be con-
Fix this textsidered on this occasion will be the English
Fix this textSetter. Two English Setters will be brought
Fix this textin for comparison and judging. This type of
Fix this textevening is very popular and affords an op-
Fix this textportunity for all to improve their knowledge
Fix this textof this very popular breed.
Fix this textCOCKER CLUB NOTES
Fix this textThe Monthly meeting of the Cocker Spaniel
Fix this textClub of Victoria will be held in Room 109,
Fix this textV.R.I. Building, on Thursday, 31st July (see
Fix this textadvert.). During 1946 the Club raised funds
Fix this textfor the sending of food parcels to England,
Fix this textand a large number of these parcels were dis-
Fix this textpatched to people connected with the Cocker
Fix this textClub of England. Many letters of thanks have
Fix this textbeen received and these letters also contained
Fix this textmany items of news and interest, and it is
Fix this textproposed that this July meeting be devoted
Fix this textto the reading and discussion of the letters.
Fix this textIt is only when details are received first hand
Fix this textthat the state of affairs in Britain is realised.

Fix this textNEW ENTRY FORMS?
Fix this textA recommendation has been made by the
Fix this textCommittee of the Cocker Spaniel Club of Vic-
Fix this texttoria that the K.C.C. should print standard
Fix this textentry forms for the convenience of the Clubs
Fix this textwhich cater for one or just a few breeds.
Fix this textThe idea was tried some years ago and was
Fix this textnot a success. This, however, is not taken
Fix this textas necessarily meaning it would be a failure
Fix this textunder the existing highly improved conditions.
Fix this textIf there is value in the idea it would seem
Fix this textto rest largely in ensuring a financial saving
Fix this textfor the Clubs. It is contended this can be
Fix this textbrought about by the largeness of the printing
Fix this textorder the K.C.C. could place and the conse-
Fix this textquent saving in the cost per 100. It is, how-
Fix this textever, very difficult to obtain printed matter
Fix this textat a price which will compare favourably with
Fix this textthat of the duplicated forms used by many
Fix this textClubs. A sub-committee has been appointed to
Fix this textexamine all the possibilities of the suggestion,
Fix this textand as a first step it asks each specialist and
Fix this textsemi-specialist club to notify the K.C.C.
Fix this textnot later than 31st July of the number of
Fix this textentry forms it would be prepared to order
Fix this textfor the year 1948, provided, of course, the
Fix this textprice charged was a reasonable one. The re-
Fix this textsponse will be accepted by the sub-committee
Fix this textas a guide to the value of the proposal. It
Fix this textshould be remembered that entry forms can
Fix this textbe designed to suit both Shows and Parades
Fix this textand printed ones can accommodate many
Fix this textregulations, etc., which otherwise would have
Fix this textto be included in the prize schedules.
Fix this textRESERVING THE SHOW
Fix this textGROUNDS
Fix this textThe Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria
Fix this textregrets that it cannot at present reserve the
Fix this textDog Pavilion on its Show Grounds for Clubs
Fix this textdesiring to hold Shows there during the latter
Fix this textpart of this year or some of the earlier months
Fix this textof 1948. The re-arrangements being made to
Fix this textaccommodate night trotting meetings and the
Fix this textother big changes occasioned since the R.A.A.F.
Fix this textvacated the grounds, also the uncertainty as to
Fix this textthe obtaining of labour and materials make
Fix this textthis unavoidable.
Fix this textHowever, the Society has no doubt that the
Fix this textdifficulties will be overcome and it will not be
Fix this textlong • '"defers all Championship dog shows,
Fix this textproperly benched -and accommodated, will be
Fix this textheld at the Showgrounds as in pre-war days.
Fix this textTHE ROYAL SHOW
Fix this textThe following judges have been appointed
Fix this textfor the “Royal Melbourne Show,” to be held
Fix this textfrom 18th to 27th September:
Fix this textMr. J. SOLER, OF NEW ZEALAND—aII
Fix this textbreeds except Australian.
Fix this textMr. Soler has been judging all breeds of
Fix this textdogs at the most important shows in New
Fix this textZealand for over thirty years. He has been
Fix this texton the N.Z.K.C. panel of judges for all breeds
Fix this textsince its inception. This will be the first occa-
Fix this textsion Mr. Soler has judged in Australia.
Fix this textMr. F. A. LONGMORE, OF VICTORIA—
Fix this textAustralian breeds. Mr. Longmore needs no in-
Fix this texttroduction to exhibitors, as he has judged in
Fix this textall except one state of the Commonwealth.
Fix this textIMPORTANT ALTERATIONS
Fix this textTO RULE 73
Fix this textUntil recently, K.C.C. Rule 73 provided that
Fix this textwins up to and including the date on which
Fix this textentries for a fixture closed must be counted. In
Fix this textcases where there was a fixture on a Satur-
Fix this textday and entries for another later fixture closed
Fix this texton the same day, exhibitors were in a quandary
Fix this textas to whether or not they should enter for
Fix this textlimited classes in the later fixture. For their
Fix this textconvenience this position has been relieved. At
Fix this textits recent meeting the Committee of the K.C.C.
Fix this textaltered the rule to provide that only wins up
Fix this textto and including the day before entries close
Fix this textshall count. The complete rule in its new form
Fix this textwill read as follows: —
Fix this text“Only wins up to and including the day
Fix this textbefore entries close shall count (subject to
Fix this textrule 77 clause b) but this rule shall not pre-
Fix this textvent any exhibits from scoring from any
Fix this textspecial prize for which more than one win
Fix this textis required.”
