The journal begins on 16 February 1850 with the journey to London and meeting the other migrants also going to Australia; provisions needed as a migrant; boarding Stag, (Captain Baker) at Deptford on 21 February 1850. Details of the voyage include: food, weather, sighting of birds, porpoises, other ships (outward and homeward), entertainment on board - reading books on Australia, dancing; deaths and burials of seven children, fever on board, robberies. Stag made such good time that there was no need to put into the Cape. On 9 June Kangaroo Island was sighted and on 12 June Taylor landed at Adelaide. The journal ends with a description of Adelaide and a list of prices of some principal articles sold in Adelaide as taken from The Times paper on 13 June 1850...
