Fix this textNEW AFFILIATIONS
Fix this textThe attention of the Committee of the
Fix this textK.C.C. has been drawn to reports of the
Fix this textformation or proposed formation of an all-
Fix this textbreeds kennel club in the Preston and
Fix this textNorthcote districts.
Fix this textThese reports indicate that certain sup-
Fix this textport has been given the project even
Fix this texttrophies have been collected—on the un-
Fix this textderstanding that affiliation with the K.C.C.
Fix this textwould be obtained. Support probably was
Fix this textincreased by a Press report that a mem-
Fix this textber of the K.C.C.’s committee was an
Fix this textoffice-bearer of the club, this being ac-
Fix this textcepted as a most favourable pointer to
Fix this textultimate affiliation. The Committee of
Fix this textthe K.C.C. announces that the Press report
Fix this textis untrue, that no application for affilia-
Fix this texttion has been received, and that it has
Fix this textlearned of no good reason why it should
Fix this textalter its policy of not affiliating any more
Fix this textmetropolitan all-breeds clubs. This policy
Fix this texthas been maintained for many years, with
Fix this textthe exception of the affiliation v»f an
Fix this textorganisation for ladles. At that time the
Fix this textK.C.C. was unique among the influential
Fix this textcontrolling bodies throughout the world
Fix this textin not having such a club affiliated with
Fix this textit, and as women take such an active part
Fix this textin dog-showing recognition was accorded
Fix this textan association for them. This association
Fix this textwas not new in the accepted sense, as it
Fix this textreally replaced one which did not meet with
Fix this textthe K.C.C.’s approval. The formation of
Fix this textother all-breeds clubs in the metropolitan,
Fix this textarea constitutes an entirely different
Fix this textmatter.
Fix this textThere are so many clubs affiliated now
Fix this textthat it is impracticable to avoid the hold-
Fix this texting of two, and sometimes more, fixtures
Fix this texton the same days. The committee cannot
Fix this textsee any reasons why this undesirable state
Fix this textshould be aggravated.
Fix this textAlthough increasing numbers of the
Fix this textpublic have been attracted to dog-showing
Fix this textthere are still insufficient dogs likely to
Fix this textbe exhibited in Victoria to ensure proper
Fix this textsupport for all fixtures. Exhibitors have
Fix this texta certain amount of money to spend on
Fix this textentry fees, so that any increase in all-
Fix this textbreeds shows and parades would mean still
Fix this textfewer dogs and entries for all clubs, and
Fix this texta consequent reduction in their revenue
Fix this textand a cheapening of awards.
Fix this textUnfortun, tely the ideal of each club
Fix this textholding its fixtures in its own district, and
Fix this textso not interfering with the revenue of
Fix this textothers, is still only an ideal. Until such
Fix this texttime as there are many more dogs being
Fix this textexhibited, district shows would only mean
Fix this textsmaller shows. One or two clubs attempting
Fix this textit now would be at a distinct disadvantage
Fix this textto those functioning in the city of Mel-
Fix this textbourne. Exhibitors naturally are attracted
Fix this textto the fixtures most centrally situated, par-
Fix this textticularly under existing petrol restrictions.
Fix this textAll supporters of the K.C.C. are advised
Fix this textnot to lend their patronage to the forma-
Fix this texttion of clubs until such time as an as-
Fix this textsurance of official recognition is obtained.
Fix this textWithdrawal of support if and when the
Fix this textK.C.C. rejects affiliation is not enough.
Fix this textThe harm may have been done, because
Fix this textthere are many well-meaning people who,
Fix this textin their lack of knowledge of canine
Fix this textaffairs, may resent their district’s club
Fix this textbeing refused recognition, and insist upon
Fix this textendeavouring to keep it alive outside the
Fix this textsanction of the K.C.C.
