without charge, provided the K.C.C. is informed of  

any acknowledgments due to other journals or to  

photographers.)  

Preparations for the annual Championship  

Show of the Melbourne Dog Club are well in  

hand. This fixture, the profits of which will be  

donated to the Red Cross Society, will be held  

on Saturday, August 7. The site will be where  

this club held its very successful show last  

year—that clean, convenient spot, the Mel-  

bourne City Council’s Depot, Wellington par-  

ade south, practically opposite Spring street—  

few minutes’ walk from either Flinders  

street or Jolimont railway stations.  

Prize schedules will be available on July 1,  

from the club’s hon. secretary, Mr. E. J. Ben-  

nett, 14 Plow street, Thornbury.  

AWARD CANCELLED  

As the British Bulldog bitch “Gallant Goldi-  

locks” had been defeated by Collie dog for  

“Best in Group 5” at the Sunshine Kennel  

Club’s recent Championship Show, she was not  

eligible to compete for “Best Dog or Bitch of  

all breeds,” and therefor that award has been  

credited to the “reserve”—Mr. G. P. Whitaker’s  

Cocker Spaniel dog “Symphony of Norglen.”

THE SPORTING TERRIER CLUB  

The Sporting Terrier Club of Victoria recently  

issued the following circular giving wanted in-  

formation of its coming Championship Show.  

“The club will hold its Annual Championship  

Show on Saturday, 10th July, 1943, at 2.15  

p.m., on the Blind Recreation grounds, situ-  

ated in Glenferrie road, Kooyong—the entrance  

is directly opposite the Kooyong tennis-courts.  

It has been the policy of the club to donate  

proceeds to various organisations, and on this  

occasion the profits will be donated to the  

Association for the Advancement of the Blind.  

appeal to you to give your whole-hearted sup-  

port to this show and make the effort worthy of  

Ihe cause.  

The judge selected, Mr. Les. Watson, is well-  

known to terrier enthusiasts, and the club is in-  

deed fortunate in securing the services of such  

capable and experienced man.  

It is generally known that various places  

where dog shows have been held in the past  

have been taken over by the Government, and  

in selecting this site the club feels it has catered  

for the needs of everyone.  

(1) The Recreation Ground for the Blind is  

only two doors from the Kooyong Rail-  

way station (on East Malvern line) and  

only 10 minutes’ train travel from the  

city, giving you rail transport right to  

the show gates.  

(2) The Glenferrie road tram stops at the  

entrance gate, and this tram route con-  

nects with: Cotham and Whitehorse  

reads, Riversdale road-Toorak road, Mal-  

vern road-High street, Dandenong road-  

Balaclava road, &c., as well as passing  

the Glenferrie, Kooyong, and Malvern  

railway stations.  

(3) As there will be ample room for the park-  

ing of cars inside the grounds, provision  

will be made for cars to take positions  

in close proximity to the show ring.  

(4) In the advent of adverse weather con-  

ditions the spacious hall will be used, and  

there will be definitely no postponement.

the secretary will be pleased to hear from per-  

sons who are desirous of contributing trophies  

or War Savings Certificates. Arrangements will  

be made for afternoon tea to be available at  

nominal charge. Schedules may be had early  

in June from the Secretary of the Sporting  

Terrier Club, Offices of the K.C.C., and leading  

city dog shops. Entries will close with the  

honorary secretary of the club, Mr. G. ROAD-  

LEY, Springvale road, Springvale, Victoria
