Fix this textIt is with sincere regret that we record the passing of
Fix this textWilliam McLennan of Wangaratta.
Fix this textWith his wife, the late Bill McLennan joined the Wan-
Fix this textgaratta Kennel Club 10 years ago. During his years of
Fix this textcontinuous service witfy the Club he held, firstly, the office
Fix this textof Hon, Treasurer, then Hon. Secretary, and from 1958 until
Fix this textthe time of his death was President of this organisation.
Fix this textIn this capacity he was a staunch worker for the Club and
Fix this texthelped considerably in bringing the dog section of the local
Fix this textshow grounds up to its present high standard.
Fix this textAlways ready and willing to help the novice, he has,
Fix this textduring his association with the Club, enthusiastically bred
Fix this textand exhibited Smooth-haired Dachshunds with considerable
Fix this textsuccess. His imported dog, K.C.C. and R.A.S. Ch. Silvae
Fix this textKeepsake, a great favourite with ringsiders, has had a big
Fix this textsay in major awards, winning at many shows, both local and
Fix this textinterstate, since his arrival in this country.
Fix this textFor 20 years Bill McLennan served with the R.A.N., being
Fix this texta member of the crew of the first ship to leave Australia
Fix this textat the outbreak of war. He served in every theatre of the
Fix this textwar, including Greece, Crete, Tobruk and Dunkirk.
Fix this textHe passed away on 10th January, 1961, at the Repatriation
Fix this textHospital, Heidelberg. Prior to this, he had been actively
Fix this textassociated with the Department of Mines.
Fix this textAll those who knew him will regret the loss of this
Fix this textsterling friend. To his wife especially, his father, his
Fix this textbrother and sister and those close friends who sadly mourn
Fix this texthim, we extend our deep and sincere sympathy. ,
