The Official Organ of the Publishers, The Kennel Control Council (Conducted under the Auspice* of the Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria)

Royal Show Ground*, Epsom Read, Ascot Vale. Telephone: 13 6471

Vol. 27, No.

Ist JUNE, 1961

Registered at the G.P.0., Melbourne, for

transmission by post as periodica)

“Australian Champion” from 1st July,

1961

When the Australian National

Kennel Council met in conference

on 25th March, 1961 at the last

Sydney Royal Easter Show,

among the many items of

business for ratification on the

agenda was recommendation

from the previous September

Meeting in Melbourne. suggest-

ion that the title “Champion” in

this country be given national

recognition. To this recommend-

ation Member Bodies unanim-

ously agreed and the new title

will come into force and oper-

ation on and from Ist July, 1961.

To ensure the immediate suc-

cess of this important move,

specially attractive Championship

Certificate has been designed.

The motif is in Australia’s

national green and gold illus-

trating such national emblems as

the golden stars of the Southern

Cross, and our golden wattle

intermingled with gum-leaf

design, in modern background

depicting our wide open spaces.

From Ist July, 1961, owners

of all existing Champions will

be entitled to use the prefix

Australian Champion (Aust. Ch).

Owners of dogs that qualify

after Ist July, 1961, will be en-

titled to one of the new certific-

ates provided by the Governing

Bodies in their own States.

The use of such designations

as K.C.C.; R.A.S.K.C.; etc., in

conjunction with the title

“Champion” will no longer be

used.

When saving of space is an

economic necessity, as in print-

ing of Catalogues, etc., the

abbreviation “Ch.” only will be

necessary.

However, the title “Aust. Ch.”

should always be used on Pedi-

gree forms, advertisements, and

all matters of official records.

Make your dog an “Australian

Champion.”
