TRADE AGREEMENT WITH BRAZIL  

THE FAMOUS HARBOUR OF RIO DE JANEIRO, CAPITAL OF BRAZIL, EPITOMISES THE WEALTH OF THE COUNTRY  

Australia has concluded Trade Agreement with  

razi ing for exports up to Â£A. 1,875,000 and  

imports of up to EA.4,375,000 per annum.  

Mr. C. J. Carne, Australian Trade Commissioner  

in Ottawa flew to Rio de Janeiro to conduct the neoo*  

tiations with the Brazilian Government. Â°  

T,  

he new Trade Agreement does not provide alloca-  

tions for all the goods Australia would vyish to sell to  

brazil, but it does provide very substantial increase  

on present trade. In addition, it covers fairly wide  

range of Australian secondary products, as well as  

wool, leather and trains.  

Under the agreement, biazil will issue import  

licences for electrical appliances, chemicals and phar-  

maceutical products, tools, radio parts, road machinery,  

diesel engines, pumps, automotive parts, x-ray equip-  

ment, bicycles, and wide range of machinery.  

Australia will import from Brazil raw cotton, timber,  

plywood, veneers, waxes, oils, coffee and tobacco.
