BIGGER TRADE WITH INDONESIA  

DR R. ASMAUN (LEFT), LEADER OF INDONESIAN DELEGATION, WELCOMED BY DR. W. A. WESTERMAN, LEADER  

OF AUSTRALIAN DELEGATION, ON ARRIVAL AT MASCOT, SYDNEY, FOR RECENT TRADE AGREEMENT TALKS.  

Australian exports to Indonesia are expected to  

increase by over £P/i million during the next twelve  

months as result of new trade arrangement signed  

in Canberra on November 30.  

Under the arrangement, which operates until Sep-  

tember, 1951, Australia will export to Indonesia goods  

worth approximately £5,000,000. Imports (excluding  

oil) are expected to total £6,850,000. he new arrange-  

ment, which covers practically all commodities in the  

trade between the two countries, continues the main  

provisions of the Australia-Indonesia Trade Arrange-  

ment which operated during the period October 1,  

1950.  

The renewal of the arrangement followed discus-  

sions in Sydney and Canberra between Australian  

representatives and an Indonesian delegation led by  

Dr. R. Asmaun, Director of Foreign Economic Rela-  

tions, of the Indonesian Ministry of Economic Affairs.  

The leader of the Australian representatives was Dr.  

W. A. Westerman, Assistant Secretary, Trade Policy  

Division, Department of Commerce and Agriculture.  

Indonesia agreed to permit the export to Australia
