PAVILION AT THE COLOMBO PLAN EXHIBITION HELD AT VICTORIA PARK, COLOMBO, FROM FEB. 23 TO MAR 23

Independent sources described the Australian

Pavilion as ‘one of the most colourful and informative

exhibits at the Colombo Plan Exhibition held from

February 23 to March 23. In report to the Depart-

ment the Acting rade Commissioner in Colombo

(Mr. K. W. Ward) states that nearly one million

people attended the Exhibition during its month

duration and peak daily attendance reached 100,000.

The Australian Pavilion was designed to show

Australia activities under the Colombo Plan and the

part she desired to play in assisting the development

of countries in South-East Asia.

Because Australia has considerable interest in

Ceylon trade, manufacturers were invited to show

their goods at the Australian Pavilion, and of the

160 contacted, nearly 100 took advantage of the oppor-

tunity.

As result of the huge public attendances, Aus-

tralian manufacturers trading on this market were

able to bring Australian brands and products to the
