OBITUARY
MR. H. McLEAN
Mr. Hector McLean, of Wowagin,
Taralga, died in hospital in Goulburn
on Saturday, aged 71 years. The late
Mr. McLean was seized with a stroke
at the week-end and did not again
rally.
He was a single man and was a
native of the Taralga district, being
a son of the late Mr. and
Mrs. Lachlan McLean, who
were district pioneers. He
was a man of sterling character, up-
right and honourable in every way,
and was well-known throughout the
Taralga and Crookwell districts,
where he lived and carried on farm-
ing and grazing pursuits.
He is survived by a sister, Mrs. M.
A. Baxter, of Bigga.
Mr. McLean was a devoted mem-
ber of the Presbyterian Church, and
was buried in the Presbyterian Ceme-
tery at Stonequarry on Sunday. The
funeral was largely attended by re-
sidents from surrounding districts.
The burial service was conducted
by Rev. W. Mullan, who in a brief
address bore testimony to the fine
character of the late Mr. McLean
and intimated that a memorial ser-
vice would be held in the Taralga
Presbyterian Church at an early
date.
For many years Mr. McLean had
charge of the Wowagin Post and
Telephone Office.
