Lucky Escape.
A serious motor accident,,: reports
our Marnlan correspdndent, occurred
on the western slide of, Paddy's River
late yesterday 'afterrioon, when a'cai.
driven by Mr. William' Gee, Sichool
teacher at West Pennant Hills, com
nletely overturned. The occupants
had' an astounding escape from seri-.
ous Injury. Mrs. Ge'e, her"daugliter
'and' her soni-in-law wei;e caught under
neath the car, but, owing to .the ipre
sence of. a deep roadside getter, suf
fered: only minor injuries..' Passing
"travellers gave: assistance and convey
edi the: party 'of ladies to Goulburn.
TheI' car :was badly' daniaged and Mr.
Gee was severely bruised. Many acct
dents have'occurired on 'this road, and
motorists are advised to 'travel over it
carefully.
Farewell Party.
At a party held at the residence of
Mr. C. H. Collier, East Goulburn,
farewell was bade to the daughters
of Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Lean in view of
the family's early departure for Wol
longong. Thile evening was arranged
by the East Goulburn School Junior
Red Cross, of which Miss Enid Lean
has been secretary since its incep
tion and has been most energetic in
all Ilherl activities. Mary and Ruby
have also been keen members. Par
lour games and community singing
were indulged in until midnight, all
present spending a thoroughlly enjoy
able evening. At supper, Mr. Collielr,
who is patron of the society, on be
half of himself and Mrs. Collier, pre
sented Miss Enid Lean witl a chrom
ium bedroom clock as a personal
token of esteem. Supper was pro
vided by Mris. Collier and members
of the society, who were generously
assisted by Nurse Roberts. Mrs.
Lean, on behalf of her daughters,
thanklied the gathering.
